Unit Plan: De Boda a Matrimonio
In this unit designed for second semester of Spanish 4, the subjunctive will be taught with the acronym WEDDING. The entire unit is themed around love and romance with the overarching goals of learning about cultural differences in dating, relationships, wedding ceremonies and marriage in different Spanish-speaking countries and the USA, along with mastering the use of the subjunctive.

- Compare and contrast norms of courtship in the US and Spanish-speaking countries.
- Describe the role of “la serenata” in Mexican society and the different types of “la serenata.”
- Discuss major traditions at Mexican and Spanish weddings
- Explain their own views on same-sex marriage and what the laws are in a variety of Spanish-speaking countries.
- Express their own hopes or goals for the future using the subjunctive.
- Debate what values make a strong marriage.
