Course Description
This course focuses on the culture goal area of the ACTFL WorldReadiness Standards. Technology provides a portal to authentic cultural materials in the digital environment today’s students inhabit. We will begin by defining culture with regard to its products, practices, and perspectives. Participants will learn how to use and will create web-based instructional materials (teaching modules) to enhance student understanding of cultural products, practices, and perspectives in their language classrooms. These teaching modules leverage the availability of authentic cultural materials.

- Pedagogical and theoretical frameworks for understanding the products, practices, and perspectives of different cultures, including one’s own
- Effective technology usage for delivering communicative / content related world language instruction with regard to culture and modes of communication.
- Examined cultural self understanding and cross-cultural knowledge
- Connections to the larger community and the world via technology
